4 Star Review from InD'tale Magazine:
A Taste for Killing (Chasing the Taste) H.K. Sterling
"Carolyn Woods and Jack Heart have more than a few things in common - an on-again, off-again romance of convenience, they are both private investigators, and they have just discovered that they have each been hired to by different people to solve the same murder! The challenge they face - avoiding each other personally while still helping each other solve the case as the body count rises adds additional suspense. While both detectives approach the case from different angles, only one succumbs to the sexual invitations of Evan Jones, a suspect in the murder of Pete Wallace.
H.K. Sterling drops the reader right smack dab in the middle of a murder investigation in this enthralling novella! Without ever telling the reader exactly what city or where, she draws a clear picture of a city large enough for the detectives to have to work to learn the people, yet small enough that the characters know each other in this contemporary murder mystery. Readers familiar with architecture or construction might notice a small hiccup, but isn't quite enough to spoil the story. The conflict that results from the love triangle between Carolyn, Jack and Evan is nicely detailed with believable motivation, although the love scene feels "heavy" in contrast to the rest of the writing. A smooth, quick read!"

Another 4 Star Review for "A Taste For Killing" from Reader's Favorite!
Another 4 Star Review for "A Taste For Killing". Check out this (stand alone) mystery that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Now is the perfect time- the sequel will be released in June!

"In A Taste for Killing, the first book in the Chasing the Taste series by H.K. Sterling, on-and-off lovers, Carolyn and Jack are both private detectives who were separately hired (she was hired by Pete’s parents and he was hired by Pete’s fiancée) to investigate the same case: the murder of Pete Wallace. Their complicated relationship makes things a little awkward between them, especially now that they’re working the same case. To make things even more difficult, Carolyn starts to fall for Evan, one of the suspects in Pete’s murder. In addition to trying to keep things professional with both Jack and Evan, Carolyn must also watch her back; the more she digs and the closer she gets to uncovering the truth, the more danger she puts herself in.
H.K. Sterling had me on the edge of my seat with A Taste for Killing. This short story had it all: suspense, murder, mystery, and even a love triangle. I found myself constantly guessing not only who the murderer was, but also who Carolyn would end up with. The plot was unpredictable, the characters were all equally intriguing, and the romance was both sizzling and heartwarming. Even though it was a little too fast-paced for me, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I will definitely be reading more of Sterling’s stories. Although it was short, I was so immersed in this book and in the characters’ lives that I was disappointed to see it come to an end, so I am really looking forward to the second book in this series."

New Review for A Taste For Killing
Review: http://www.bookpurses.blogspot.com/
Excerpt:
He had six-pack abs, and I wanted to feel the carbonation. This one dressed like the stereotype of a construction worker, down to the handkerchief he used to wipe sweat off his forehead. I don't know if he or the hot day brought it out, but sweat poured off of me too. He had no interest in me as a person, though. I was invading his territory. Still, I enjoyed the view. For my part, I knew my clothes looked crappy. I didn’t have to wear uniforms anymore, but my street clothes, well they were very—street. So there I stood, a turd in the sun in front of this Adonis. Oh well.
He pointed to a small trailer up a muddy hill. The supervisor I asked to see apparently stayed in there. Stayed, as in never left. Great. Mud. Now I'd be a dried turd in the sun. Adonis went back to digging and I started the trek up the hill. At least I came with boots. Steel toed.
Once I made it to the trailer, I heard an argument going on inside.
"Look, I don't care who you are. The plans are publicly filed. Go get them yourself!" yelled someone.
Then I heard a voice I knew. Calm, cool, subversive. "Is there any reason you're being so difficult? A man did die on your watch."
An encounter I hadn’t planned on. Well, at least not until later tonight. I knocked loudly on the door and with my sweetest voice said, "Hello, boys. Am I interrupting something?"
"Great," groused the supervisor. "A party." He appeared to me like another stereotype, puffing on a cigar over a fat jowl line and rotund stomach that threatened to overturn the small desk he was behind. I guess there's a reason for stereotypes. He looked about four hamburgers away from a heart attack.
On a wooden chair in front of the supervisor sat Jack. A fellow independent detective, an ally at times, a competitor...and my on and off lover.
"Well, well, well," he said smiling, but I could tell he wasn’t happy to see me. Not here. It meant we were both working the same case. "Hello, Carolyn. Who hired you?"
"Parents."
"Girlfriend," he answered back.
We stared at each other. Complications.
The supervisor didn’t give a damn and said to me, "Well, missy, I'll tell you the same thing I told this guy." He jerked his thumb around to Jack. "The plans are publically filed and that’s all I have to say about it."
I tried a different tactic. "That’s fine with me. I have no problem going downtown for a copy." I wore my practiced, saccharine smile. "But I wonder, could you tell me the name of the architect? Please?" I smiled again. God, this job sucks at times.
The supervisor sighed. "Jones, Evan Jones."
"Thank you so much," I said, smiling my best smile again. "I'll get out of the way and leave you two boys to...whatever you were doing."
I opened the door to go and started to shut it only to find Jack following me out.
"Sure, flash your tits and get what you want." Boy was he in a bad mood.
"There was no tit flashing in there. Face it, testosterone was not a good choice in that situation."
Jack's response: a grunt.
"Besides," I tried to placate him, "I didn’t get the plans either."
"No, you did one better."
"That's assuming the architect will have anything to do with me and cooperate." A thought occurred to me. "So are you going there too?"
"No, I might as well wait and see what you turn up. Besides, I have my own leads."
"Are you planning to share?" Just call me hopeful. As in full of shit, because that’s where hope always seemed to lead.
"No," he said, still grumpy.
"I see. So it's gonna be like that."
"I guess so."
I felt like such a female. Damn. But I had to ask.
"Are we still on for tonight?"
"Yeah."
I wasn’t convinced but didn’t push it. God, sometimes I hated myself. But we were good together—when it was good—when his competitive edge didn’t get the better of him. Though I was one to talk. I did the same thing at times. Hence our on and off status. But currently we were supposed to be on. So, I kept it light in the spirit of things to come.
"Okay, master detective, I'll leave you to your leads. See ya."
"See ya," he replied, already preoccupied, pondering a piece of paper he'd taken from his pocket.
I made my way down the hill in my muddy boots.

New Review for A Taste For Killing!
Check out Deb Sanders at: http://debsanders.com/ and scroll down for the book and review!
Deb Sanders Blog Review:
"There’s a lot going on in A Taste For Killing and since this is a short novella, author H.K. Sterling wastes no time in getting the ball rolling. Murder, multiple suspects but no motive, an on-again-off-again boyfriend who also happens to be a competing private detective and a little eye candy at a construction site that puts our main character’s motor into overdrive. And that’s just the first chapter.
Carolyn Woods felt like a blend of Stephanie Plum and a gumshoe detective. In fact, this interesting tale uses a lot of stereotypes. I especially liked the gum-smacking second wife of the victim’s father. Rather than detract from the story, however, it lends a “campy” feel that I really enjoyed. I also found the competition between Carolyn and Jack, the BF, to be a fun angle, although I was still rooting for her when she met Evan, a potential suspect and another spicy love interest. Spicy? Ummm, hot might be a better word!
A Taste For Killing will keep you guessing with some well placed twists and turns. It’s a good balance of crime, suspense and romance and reads incredibly fast. I’m not going to give away any spoilers but trust me, when finished, you’ll be searching for Book 2 by this talented author."

Great Review for "Eyes Only"!
Great Review for "Eyes Only! Find the review at http://www.snarkymomreads.com/?p=4800 Enter the contest there too!
"EYES ONLY” is based on the classification level of an intelligence file and is a very short read at just 24 pages. That’s good, because at the end, you sorta get that “What the hell just happened?” moment and find yourself eagerly jumping back to the start to re-read it. It’s a romance that intersects with a covert op. I’m having a hard time writing the review just because I don’t want to give out any spoilers, so let’s just leave it that this is a quick read that is a boomerang plot wrapped in a conundrum wrapped in an enigma wrapped in a…. well, you get it. I normally annoy The Man because at the start of a TV show I’ll mutter under my breath, “So & So did it”, and I’m usually right. This time? Right outta left field. Read it & see if YOU can predict the end!!?!! (Oh, by the way – the book comes with coupon codes for 50% another “Flirt” book and 20% off any other book at the publishing house.)"
Then get the book for only 0.99 at any of these retailers!

Eyes Only is a military intrigue story that left me wanting more. For such a short story the characters are well developed and interesting, and there is enough spice to keep it sexy. I for one am hoping that these characters will pop up in H. K.'s writing again. And the ending is something that you will never expect and makes you wish that the story continued! Love this author and I give this short 4.5 stars, a must read!"

Undercover Blog welcomes Sheritha Sing who gives us juicy tidbits on her upcoming release!
Blurb
Lace Higgins had no idea her blog post on South Africa's former wild child, Dean St. James would result in him being kicked out of his parents' apartment – and land him on her doorstep.
Lace decides she has to make up for Dean's sudden predicament and invites him to move in with her—she could use the rent. She doesn't expect Dean to be as sexy as he is. But with his habit of walking around shirtless and his swoon-worthy body she suddenly needs to get a grip on her hormones. Losing her virginity to Dean becomes Lace's top priority if she can win Dean's trust and show him he means just as much to her minus his parents' wealth.
Dean St. James can’t believe a single blog post ruined his comfortable life. He’s forced to look for another place when his parents kick him out of their apartment. In a moment of total insanity, Dean confronts the writer of the damaging blog post and is surprised when she offers him a place. Dean needs balls of steel if he's going to live with the sexy writer especially since she has a penchant for a silk robe that falls open and flashes him the sexiest body he's ever seen.
EXCERPT
It can't be. I blink before pushing my hair off my face and take a closer look. There's a hunk on my doorstep. Maybe I've fallen asleep and woken up in an alternate reality. Shit, he's gorgeous. His sun-kissed golden skin is flawless. He takes a long, sweeping look at me before he places one muscled arm on his slim hip and poses like a book boyfriend in my doorway.
An ice draft chills me. Crap. I pull the ends of my robe together to prevent another peep show and try to figure out who he is. And I had to flash him. Thank God, I've waxed. My face heats up all over again. I'll bet he loved my little impromptu show. I wish his presence didn't make my insides tingle or dry up my mouth. I've never had a guy look at me appreciatively or light up wildfires in remote places I never knew existed inside me with a single glance. And those eyes...Jesus... His eyes remind me of liquid fire.
My blood hums before the pit of my tummy trembles and spreads through my veins quicker than liquid lava. I'm wet in seconds, and I have to clamp my legs together just in case any telltale juices leak down my legs. Alison's right. I need to have sex before I go totally crazy and start dry humping guys. I don't think this sex only after marriage thing is going to work for me much longer. Heck, I must be the oldest virgin on the planet.
"Where is she?" His voice cuts through my dazed thoughts.
What does he want with me?
A gazillion possibilities race through my head. What if he's a stalker? I've had a few crazies send me creepy messages via my social media accounts. None have had the guts to show up on my doorstep... Besides Mr. Book Boyfriend doesn't look at all crazy. He seems to be as furious as hell, though.
"I don't know any Lace."
